We're all different in how we approach Thanksgiving; for some of us, it's a formal affair, filled with heirloom linens and china, soft candlelight and everyone dressed up. For others, it's a casual potluck on the back patio followed by football in the backyard or a walk on the beach. And then there's the rest of us, who fall somewhere in between!
At Port Charlotte Florist, we've got centerpieces for the Thanksgiving table that will work for everyone. With just a little time and consideration, you can find the perfect one for your dinner. Read More about Centerpieces for Every Thanksgiving »

If you're dining at someone else's Thanksgiving table this year, it calls for a hostess gift.
A host or hostess gift is a traditional gesture of gratitude, and even in these post-Emily Post days, people still routinely offer them. Right at the top of the list of acceptable host gifts, you'll find flowers. Which makes sense - they breathe life into a home, bringing in warmth, vibrancy and often a really nice scent. Also at the top of the list: gift baskets. What's better than getting a bundle of goodies on your doorstep? Lucky for you, we at Port Charlotte Florist know a thing or two about both of these gift-worthy items. Read More about Holiday Hosts Deserve Great Gifts »

Our community is steeped in heroes, and on November 11, we honor them. Specifically, we commemorate those veterans who served their country in the U.S. military, defending and protecting the rest of us. But beyond the parades, parties and observances, as well as the informal gatherings with friends and family, we may want to make a personal gesture.
It can be hard to know exactly what to get our favorite veteran, but at Port Charlotte Florist, we have some ideas in mind that speak to the uniqueness of the occasion. Read More about Enduring Floral Gifts for Veterans Day »

Fall's mums are here to stay, and given how pretty they are, you'll never want them to leave. It's that time of year to give your front steps and entryway a refresh, re-potting plants, setting out pumpkins, and switching out your summer wreath for something a little more seasonal. We have to do all we can here in the subtropics to make Fall feel like Fall, but the season's beloved flowering plant goes a long way to helping us achieve that spirit. At Port Charlotte Florist, we're happy to help match you up with a mum. Read More about Make Way for Mums »

Long before random acts of kindness became in vogue, a young candy worker in Cleveland imagined a day to show strangers that people cared about them. The initiative was the brainchild of Herbert Kingston, and in 1922 the candy company that he worked for took his idea and turned it into reality. The concept was simple - on a designated day, over 20,000 boxes of candy were handed out at orphanages, nursing homes, and to the homeless. While it was originally designated as a one-time event, the media picked up the story and it became a sensation. By 1927, New York State had joined in, and the tradition began to grow regionally. It was dubbed Sweetest Day to reflect the gifts of candy.
A full century later, Sweetest Day is still celebrated in many part of the United States, although it had now grown to include not only sweets, but any act of kindness - or any sweet gesture designed to encourage or inspire someone. Port Charlotte Florist would love to help you in letting people in your community know that you love and support them. Read More about Sweetest Day Celebrates Kindness »

The elements and colors used in fall floral design are distinctive and easily recognizable. Even here in South Florida, where temperatures haven't cooled and colors don't change, our home decor and floral designs celebrate the warmth of the season. Many of us have been transplanted from colder climates and remember the inviting hospitality of hot cider and roaring fires. The floral designers at Port Charlotte Florist employ inspiration from traditional fall themes to create some of the most beautiful arrangements, bouquets and centerpieces in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and North Port. What can we make for your home or gathering?
