Flowers That Shine In Pantone’s Color Of The Year

To say we're excited about color company Pantone's pick for Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, would be an understatement - we here at Port Charlotte Florist are thrilled, because we know how intriguing purple is when it's brought into a floral arrangement. We've been working with the purple palette for forever, and we love that it's finally getting its day in the sun. Especially seeing as some designers, florists and other creatives wait all year for the big announcement, which has the ability to set trends in the design world for years to come. Pick Up A Pretty Bouquet For Your Bestie

One of the best fictional holidays to come around in a long time is Galentine's Day, an occasion to celebrate the love between female friends that was introduced to the world via NBC show Parks and Recreation in 2010. On the episode, main character Leslie Knope took all her ladies out for a long lunch and declared February 13 " Galentine's . . . only the best day of the year." Ever since, more and more women have been taking the opportunity to honor each other on the eve of Valentine's Day, and we here at Port Charlotte Florist are here for it. Lift Their Spirits Through Flowers

Flowers always have the power to make us feel better. Studies show that when people are gifted them, the happiness upon receiving them doesn't fade. In fact, it lasts several days. During winter - otherwise known as cold and flu season - flowers are needed to lift our spirits more than ever. At Port Charlotte Florist, we believe a bright, bountiful bouquet is just the thing to offer someone who may be under the weather. Not only do fresh flowers and plants oxygenate a space - an important consideration for someone who is bedridden or home bound - but they make that special someone feel cared for when they need to feel it most. 2018’s Pretty Floral Predictions

One of the most beautiful styles identified in International Floral Distributors annual trend forecast - at least to us here at Port Charlotte Florist - is what IFD is calling "Positively Posh." It's a lavish, romantic style that shows just a bit of modern restraint. These designs are whimsical, playful and youthful - never uptight. When you see it, you'll know what we mean. Blooms presented in this manner inspire a dreamy, wistful feeling. Read More about 2018’s Pretty Floral Predictions »

Spotlight On Our Holiday Gift Guide

We here at Port Charlotte Florist are loving our Holiday Gift Guide, and we know you will too! Winter's blooms are gorgeous this time of year, worked into magical designs that utilize the season's natural accents (think pine cones and bare branches) as well as some of its most glittery decor. Designs can be embellished to the hilt, presenting as lush bouquets in a range of textures, or simple and sweet, evoking the clean serenity of freshly- fallen snow. We've got them all in our guide, but want to tease two of our faves in this week's blog. Read More about Spotlight On Our Holiday Gift Guide »

Secret Santa Gifts That Will Blow Them Away

This past Black Friday, a man walked into a Toys "R" Us and purchased 62 items on layaway, spending more than $10,000 to help strangers have a great holiday. He then upped the ante, buying $2,000 worth of items for Toys For Tots. After his incredible - and anonymous - act of charity, the press referred to him as the ultimate Secret Santa. It was a 20th century philanthropist who pulled off a similar act (distributing $100 bills in the Kansas City streets) that pioneered Secret Santa as we know it today in the U.S. Since then, we've adopted the practice as a way to exchange gifts in the workplace or with friends. It's that cloak of anonymity that makes the gift-giving so fun, and we here at Port Charlotte Florist know a thing or two about giving gifts.
